Creating Home Outside: Landscape Design Workshop

Join us for our second annual local LANDSCAPE DESIGN WORKSHOP with author and designer Julie Moir Messervy!

The Workshop:

Creating Home Outside is an action-packed, interactive workshop that guides participants in creating beautiful and meaningful outdoor spaces by introducing them to principles of good design.  Through lectures, photographic examples, discussion, and hands-on activities, participants will learn the six-step design process that Julie presents in her newest book, Home Outside: Creating the Landscape You Love.  The workshop will take participants through an experiential learning process that yields clear and satisfying results for homeowners and landscape professionals alike.

Join Julie and spend a refreshing day renewing your sense of curiosity about the landscape environment; learn how to strengthen the link between indoors and out, and how to evaluate needs and preferences to build a satisfying landscape.  At the end of the workshop, you will realize that you have enough knowledge to complete a conceptual design for yourself or a client.  You will also take with you a comprehensive folder of handouts and practical exercises that will help you implement what you’ve learned when designing your own (or someone else’s) “Home Outside.”

Reception:

Julie and the JMMDS Team will host a local reception at the Saxtons River Inn on the evening of August 21, for attendees who arrive the day before the workshop. It will be a nice way to meet new people, share ideas, and meet Julie prior to the busy day of the workshop. The reception is included in the ticket price, as is a fabulous buffet lunch the day of the workshop. Scholarship assistance is available if needed; please inquire.

Accomodations:

We will email a list of accommodations for participants who will be traveling from a distance.  The Saxtons River Inn offers a special room rate of $99 per room, per night for anyone staying in town.  There are a limited number of rooms available.  Please contact the Inn directly and be sure to mention the Creating Home Outside Workshop to make your reservation.

Copies of several of Julie's books, including the most recent, Home Outside: Creating the Landscape You Love will be available for purchase at the workshop.  Julie will also be available to sign books during the lunch break and at the end of the day.  Cash or check only, please.
